Mediatek and Intel Factory Services Announce Partnership

Intel Shop Solutions announced a new partnership with MediaTek to fabricate some of its future products. Its profile is diverse, so it’s unlikely to change. However, it will now use Intel Shop Solutions (IFS).

Who announced the collaboration in a press release. However, it was sparsely detailed. MediaTek will use Intel Factory Services to make chips for various new side gadgets.

Intel and Mediatek did not specify which node they would use, but Intel sent me some information via email. A representative from Intel informed me that MediaTek plans to use Intel 16 for the initial involvement. This will allow them to produce many chips to make a variety of intelligent edge devices. We expect a long-lasting collaboration that could lead to several new applications and innovations.

Intel 16 is an improved version of Intel’s FinFET procedure for a 22nm node. Mediatek stated that it chose Intel 16 because IFS is a platform that optimizes for high-performance, low power, and always-on connectivity. The slide below shows that Intel 16 is optimized for high efficiency and low energy.

Intel announced Qualcomm and Amazon Internet Services as its first clients in 2015. This includes the fact that Qualcomm will eventually tap the 20A procedure node once it is available in 2024. AWS

Mediatek’s node did not include Mediatek in the launch, which has been part of Intel’s previous collaboration information. Intel stated that AWS would be using its product packaging innovation.

This is a massive win for Intel as Mediatek is the fifth largest fabless semiconductor company worldwide. It will also help place IFS on top as a gamer in shop games as it tries for TSMC. Although its current strategies in Europe and the US are an essential part of its long-term strategy, it still has a lot of work ahead of it. The company’s VP cited Intel’s commitment to significant capability growth as one reason why they chose the company to develop many of their future products.
